1999 Annual Meeting

In celebration of SGA's 30th anniversary the annual meeting program will highlight southern history and culture as it relates to growing diverse communities.   The meeting theme is SGA: Thirty Years of Documenting Southern History and Culture.  The meeting program and speakers will provide provocative and informative presentations that address past and contemporary documentation projects.   The sessions will present recent cultural and demographic trends and identify the records created and/or provided by these diverse communities.  These sessions will also provide training to effectively develop, preserve, and provide access to materials produced by these communities.  Illustrative projects will demonstrate successful attempts to document cultural diversity and include community members in the process.   We believe that the meeting will promote and encourag interest in pursuing projects that document the growth within and experiences of diverse communities throughout the state.

The meeting will be held on beautiful Jekyll Island, Georgia at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel on November 3-5, 1999, so mark your calendars now!
