She fought with single-minded determination to educate and inspire her children. Despite the hardships they faced, the family lived in a creative and imaginative environment that shaped the rest of their lives. I honestly believe that all of the Andrews have art also Writing talent, Mrs. Andrews concluded. Drawn from the personal papers of Viola Andrews, of artist Benny Andrews, and of novelist Raymond Andrews, the exhibition tells the familys story through objects that they created: autobiographies, novels, short stories, correspondence, scrapbooks, paintings, photographs, and drawings. Mrs. Andrews story and her writings chronicle, in the words of her son, Benny, a life and time that has not only passed, but has been inadequately represented.
