Anthony R. Dees Educational Workshop Scholarship
Starting in 2008, the Society of Georgia Archivists will each year
award a scholarship for attendance at the SGA-sponsored Pre-Conference
Workshop. The Pre-Conference Workshop is held in conjunction with the
SGA Annual Meeting at various locations around the state of Georgia.
Past SGA workshops have addressed a variety of themes and issues faced
by archivists and archival institutions, including electronic records,
exhibits, donor relations, digital collections, and funding. The
purpose of the Pre-Conference Workshop and the workshop scholarship is
to enhance archival education. The scholarship will be named by SGA
members at the 2007 SGA Annual Meeting. The scholarship was named by
SGA members at the 2007 SGA Annual Meeting in honor of long-time member
Tony Dees.
The registration fee for the successful scholarship applicant will
be waived by the Society of Georgia Archivists. Recipients will be
responsible for any travel fees associated with attending the workshop.
Please note that the scholarship winner is responsible for submitting
their workshop registration form by the registration deadline. After
the workshop, the recipient will submit a brief article on the
experience for use in the SGA Newsletter.
Eligibility
Individuals eligible to compete for the scholarship are those
engaged in compensated or volunteer archival work at any level in an
institution in the state of Georgia, SGA members employed outside the
state of Georgia, graduate students preparing for a career in archives
at a college or university in Georgia, or SGA student members studying
outside the state of Georgia. Preference will be given to applicants
who do not have access to institutional support for attending the SGA
Pre-Conference Workshop. Individuals may apply or be nominated by a
