Community Archives from the Ground Up Speaker: James Newberry, Outreach and Special Projects Curator for the Department of Museum, Archives and Rare Books at Kennesaw State University Date/Time: Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 10:00-12:00 Location: Georgia Tech Library Description: This workshop will provide participants with best practices and tools for success in cultivating community archives. From relationship building with project partners, individual donors, and memory keepers to organizing large-scale community scanning days with multiple stakeholders, community archival development presents a range of challenges and opportunities. Planning for challenges and maximizing opportunities make collections work both meaningful and useful to your archive, exhibit project, or program. Expect to engage with fellow participants, share experiences, and take home a toolkit for current and future projects. Meet the Speaker James Newberry is the Outreach and Special Projects Curator for the Department of Museums, Archives and Rare Books at Kennesaw State University.
